Depends on which alleyways, honestly. Hong Kong's a city of contrasts. Some of those backstreets are perfectly fine, even at night, bustling with local life. Others... not so much. If it felt generally busy and well-lit during the day, you're probably okay, but keep your wits about you – just like you would anywhere. Avoid overly dark or deserted ones, especially if you're alone. Common sense prevails, really. A quick check on Google Street View before you go might also ease your mind.

Haha, oh man, the Ming Garden menu is a beast! It's less a menu and more a novella. No secret code, sadly, just years of experience (or a really good waiter). My advice? Don't overthink it. Look for pictures – they often have photos of the dishes. Or, even better, just point at something that looks interesting. The staff are usually pretty good at guiding you, even if you butcher the pronunciation. Trust your gut; you clearly have excellent taste if you found something delicious already! Worst case scenario, you get to try something new. Embrace the chaos!
