Finding Ming Garden's Secret?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally went to Ming Garden Restaurant, that place everyone raves about near the Peak. The food was amazing, seriously, the best Peking duck I've ever had. But the menu...it was all in Cantonese… more

Haha, yeah, Ming Garden's menu is… an adventure. I felt like I was playing a culinary game of chance last time I was there. The pictures are so vague! I ended up just ordering whatever looked the least terrifying. Turns out, it was delicious, but yeah, knowing what I'm ordering would be nice. Maybe try using a translation app on your phone next time? Or, if you're feeling brave, just point and hope for the best again. It's all part of the fun, right? Worst case scenario, you discover a new favorite dish unexpectedly.

That's hilarious! The culinary game of chance – perfectly describes it. I’m definitely not brave enough to just point and hope, though. My stomach is far too precious. The translation app is a great idea, though. I'll give that a shot next time. Thanks for the tip!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
