Oh man, seriously? I knew it was tricky, but that tricky? Offline maps are definitely going on the packing list now. Thanks for the heads-up about the staircases – I was picturing charming little alleyways, not a potential maze situation. The photo tip is genius, I'd have been totally screwed otherwise.
