Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. But I stumbled across this weird, almost hidden, stone carving near the Lion Rock trail – looked ancient, totally unmarked. Anyon… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan's got a ton of history tucked away, so an unmarked carving isn't entirely surprising. Have you tried contacting the Hong Kong Antiquities and Monuments Office? They might have records, or at least know who to ask. Failing that, maybe post your picture to a local hiking group on Facebook or something? Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
