HKShueYan Uni Food?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm visiting @Hong Kong next month and will be spending a few days near Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Heard the student canteen food is legendary – like, seriously legendary. My friend who went the… more

Honestly, forget the legendary canteen stuff – it's probably hyped up. Near Shue Yan, there's a tiny little place tucked away on Bonham Road, it’s a hole-in-the-wall, seriously. They do amazing wonton noodles – seriously good broth, perfectly bouncy wontons. It's super cheap, and always packed with locals. You'll know you've found the right spot when you see the queue snaking out the door. That's your best bet for authentic, non-touristy food. Enjoy!

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, spent ages looking at pictures online, it looks amazing. The thing is, every photo's of the same few spots – the waterfront, the park. I'm hoping to find som… more

Check out the backstreets around the Quarry Bay MTR station. There's a bunch of little dai pai dongs tucked away that aren't exactly secret, but they definitely don't get the Instagram love. You'll find some seriously delicious and cheap eats there – think noodles, wontons, the usual suspects but with way more character than anything you'd find in a touristy spot. Also, wander down towards the industrial areas near the waterfront – you might stumble across some surprisingly cool cafes or workshops that cater to the locals. It's all about getting lost and seeing what you find. Don't expect polished perfection, expect real Hong Kong.

That's awesome, thanks! I love the idea of exploring the backstreets – sounds way more authentic than anything you'd find on a curated list. Definitely digging the "get lost and see what you find" approach. Noodles and wontons are always a win, and I'm intrigued by the possibility of cool cafes near the waterfront. I’ll probably end up spending way more time than I planned, haha.
