Hong Kong's a maze, isn't it? I've lived here for years and still stumble across weird little nooks and crannies. Sounds like one of those places that's probably just... old. A lot of those alleyways are remnants of older Hong Kong, before all the modern stuff went up. Probably nothing sinister, just a forgotten bit of the city. The Mid-Levels escalators are a trip! Seriously, it's like a sci-fi movie set. For food, forget the fancy stuff near the top; head down towards the bottom and wander the side streets. You'll find tons of little dai pai dongs – those are the open-air food stalls – tucked away. Trust your gut and just explore. Honestly, the best finds are the ones you stumble upon unexpectedly. As for not getting lost… well, that's half the fun! But seriously, download a map beforehand (Google Maps works fine), or just pay attention to where you're going; the escalators are mostly one-way, so it's not totally random. Just keep an eye out for the various exits if you need to cut across. Enjoy the ride! It's an experience.
