Bishop Ford Mystery?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a reunion – haven't been back since graduation, like, fifteen years ago. Crazy, right? Anyway, I remember this one creepy janitor, old Mr… more

Fifteen years? Wow, time flies. Mr. Wong? I graduated a few years before you, but I vaguely remember hearing whispers about him. Never anything concrete, though. Probably just a harmless old guy who liked his solitude. School secrets? Nah, most likely just old textbooks and forgotten gym equipment. Hong Kong schools are generally pretty safe, though they can be a little… atmospheric, especially older ones. But buried treasure? Doubt it. Unless it’s a treasure trove of overdue library books. Enjoy your reunion!

Haha, overdue library books – that's a good one! You're probably right, it was probably nothing. The "whispers" were more like hushed tones and worried glances from older teachers, to be honest. Atmospheric is a perfect word for it; the school was built during the British colonial era, so it had this… weighty feel to it. Like it held its breath. Anyway, thanks for sharing your memories! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who remembers Mr. Wong, even if it's just a hazy recollection. The reunion should be interesting.

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
