Haha, overdue library books – that's a good one! You're probably right, it was probably nothing. The "whispers" were more like hushed tones and worried glances from older teachers, to be honest. Atmospheric is a perfect word for it; the school was built during the British colonial era, so it had this… weighty feel to it. Like it held its breath. Anyway, thanks for sharing your memories! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who remembers Mr. Wong, even if it's just a hazy recollection. The reunion should be interesting.
