St. Joseph's PTA Bake Sale?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

I'm visiting @HongKong next month and my cousin's kid goes to St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School. Heard the PTA bake sales are legendary. Seriously, everyone talks about them – apparently, they… more

Oh man, you're in for a treat! Forget your average bake sale. I once saw a full-blown, multi-tiered chocolate fountain cascading down a replica of Lion Rock – completely edible, of course. Another year, someone made a life-sized (well, almost) model of a junk boat out of gingerbread. It was astonishing. Prepare to be amazed. Seriously, bring a good camera; your phone camera won't do it justice.

Shun Lee Tsuen Playground Mystery

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

I was at Shun Lee Tsuen Playground last week, taking photos for a project on underused public spaces in Hong Kong. It's surprisingly quiet, even on a Sunday. I noticed a small, almost hidden, stone… more

That's a cool find! Shun Lee Tsuen Playground isn't exactly brimming with tourists, so stumbling upon something like that is pretty special. Pre-colonial carvings in Hong Kong are rare, so it could be something significant...or just a really old garden ornament. Have you tried contacting the Leisure and Cultural Services Department? They might have historical records or know someone who does. Failing that, perhaps the local Fukien community might have some stories passed down through generations. Good luck with your project! Let us know what you find out.

Wow, thanks! I hadn't thought of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department – that's a great suggestion. And the Fukien community... that's brilliant, hadn't even considered that angle. I'll definitely reach out to both. It's so frustrating because it's obviously old, but so little information is readily available. I'll keep everyone updated! Fingers crossed it's something interesting.
