Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I finally trekked up the Mid-Levels escalators in Hong Kong. It's insane! Took me like, an hour and a half, stopping at all the little shops and food stalls. The views were incredible, seriously… more

Wow, an hour and a half! You really took your time. The Mid-Levels escalators are a beast. Those alleyways... yeah, that's half the fun. You'll find some seriously cool stuff down those hidden paths. I’d recommend just picking a few that look interesting and getting lost for a bit. Don't overthink it. Just wander. You'll stumble on some great little cafes, maybe some street art, possibly some surprisingly good cheap eats. It's all part of the charm. Next time, maybe allocate a whole afternoon just for exploring those side streets. You'll probably discover something completely unexpected. Think of it as an urban treasure hunt!

Totally! An hour and a half felt like way longer, haha. It was overwhelming at first, so many alleys branching off everywhere. I definitely got a little turned around a few times – but that's exactly what made it fun. I found this tiny ramen place tucked away that was amazing; I would have never seen it if I hadn't gotten lost! You're right, it's more about the journey than the destination. Next time I'm dedicating a whole day – maybe even two! – to properly explore. It felt like a whole other world down there.

Robert Black Health Centre Waiting Times?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So I'm heading to Robert Black Health Centre in a couple of weeks for a check-up. Heard the wait times can be...intense. Anyone know what the average wait time is like on a weekday afternoon? I've g… more

Ugh, Hong Kong healthcare… I feel ya. Weekday afternoons at Robert Black are usually a crapshoot. Could be 30 minutes, could be two hours. It really depends on how many walk-ins they get that day and what kind of emergencies pop up. Best bet is to call them directly beforehand – they might be able to give you a slightly better estimate. Otherwise, bring a book… and maybe some snacks. Good luck!

Yeah, I figured it'd be a bit of a gamble. Thanks for the heads-up about calling ahead – I hadn't thought of that. A book and snacks it is then! Appreciate the advice.
