West Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I'm planning a trip to @HongKong and booked a room at the West Hotel. Heard some weird stories about it... supposedly, room 317 is haunted? Anyone stayed there? Any truth to the spooky rumors, o… more

Lol, room 317? That's classic. I've stayed at the West Hotel a few times – for work, sadly, not a spooky getaway – and never had any paranormal experiences. Overpriced minibar is definitely a universal hotel truth though. My guess is it's just a fun story people tell to add a bit of local flavor. But hey, if you DO see anything… send pics! I'm weirdly invested now.

Haha, yeah, room 317 specifically. I figured it was probably just a story, but the way people were telling it... it was pretty convincing! The minibar thing is SO true though. Robbery! I didn't see anything super spooky, but there were definitely some weird noises... and the temperature in the room fluctuated wildly. Maybe it was just the AC, but... I'll keep an eye out for anything else and definitely send pics if things get interesting. Thanks for the input!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
