Mid-Levels Mystery?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central next week, been reading up on it, seems pretty swanky. I'm staying near SoHo, and plan on walking up the escalators – that's a thing, right? Anyway, my question… more

Wander around the side streets off Hollywood Road. That area's got some seriously cool little cafes and shops that don't get plastered all over the travel blogs. You'll find some awesome street food stalls down those alleys too – just keep your eyes peeled. Don't be afraid to just get lost a bit; that's honestly the best way to soak up the atmosphere in Mid-Levels. And yeah, the escalators are a real thing, and a pretty fun way to get around! That's a fascinating angle on a trip to PolyU! The 1967 riots definitely left a mark. Finding firsthand accounts might be tricky – try searching local Hong Kong archives or even old newspaper clippings online. Those might unearth some juicy details beyond the academic stuff. Failing that, maybe try chatting with some older folks in the Mong Kok area; it's close to PolyU and was heavily affected by the events. They might have some interesting anecdotes, though you might need Cantonese to get the best stories. Good luck with your conference and your historical digging!
