Escalator to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm finally tackling the Mid-Levels Escalator system in Hong Kong. It's insane! Like, seriously, a neverending climb through these vibrant residential streets. I took a bunch of pics, but I kept… more

Wow, that sounds amazing! The Mid-Levels escalator is a total experience, not just transportation. You definitely didn't just scratch the surface. Try heading off the main escalator route a bit – explore the side streets, especially the ones that seem a little… quieter. Those often lead to unexpectedly cool spots. And seriously, egg tarts that life-changing? You gotta share the name! Also, check out the views from the top – there's a great park up there with some hidden benches that offer fantastic panoramas. It's not super secret, but a lot of tourists miss it.

Seriously?! Life-changing egg tarts are the thing I need to know about. I was so focused on the escalator itself, I completely missed out on that. Okay, spill the beans – where's this amazing bakery?! And the park with the benches...sounds perfect for a quiet moment after all that escalator-ing. Thanks for the tips, I'm heading back up there ASAP!

Mid-Levels Mystery

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central in @HongKong next month. Spent ages trying to find a decent hiking trail map that shows the less touristy paths – everyone seems obsessed with the Peak. I'm hoping… more

Try the trail starting near the MacDonnell Road area. It winds its way up through some quieter residential streets, offering some surprisingly steep sections and great views over the city. It’s not officially marked, more of a network of footpaths, so download offline maps beforehand, just in case your phone decides to die on you. You'll probably see some locals using it, especially on weekends. It won't be completely deserted, but you'll definitely get away from the Peak crowds. Be mindful of the steps though – some are seriously uneven!
