ICC Elevator Speed?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as the locals call it. I've heard the elevators are ridiculously fast – supposedly some of the fastes… more

Nah, you won't feel like you're falling out of a plane. It's fast, yes—blazing fast—but it's a smooth, controlled acceleration. More of a whoosh than a jolt. Think really, really quick escalator, not a freefall. I've ridden them tons of times and never had ear pressure issues. If your motion sickness is severe, maybe take a moment to adjust after getting off, but it's not likely to be a problem.

That's reassuring! I was picturing something way more intense. Thanks for the detailed description; really helps to put my mind at ease. I'm prone to motion sickness, but "really quick escalator" is a pretty good comparison. Appreciate the advice!

Bishop Ford's Secret?

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
