Mid-Levels Mystery

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central next month, spent ages looking at pics online, but they don't really show the vibe. I'm planning on hiking up from Central – heard the views are insane – but I'm… more

The Mid-Levels hike is killer, but so worth it. For noodles, forget the main drag; wander down some of the smaller side streets off Hollywood Road once you're up near Man Mo Temple. You'll stumble on tiny, family-run places – look for the ones packed with locals. They usually have a daily special board outside. Don't be shy about pointing at pictures or using Google Translate! Pace yourself on the stairs – seriously. Take breaks, sip water, maybe even do some light stretches between flights. There are plenty of little benches along the way. You'll see people doing the same, don’t worry about looking like a tourist - everyone takes a breather. Trust me, it's less about speed and more about enjoying the scenery. You’ll regret sprinting to the top.

Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong, the one everyone raves about. The hype is REAL, I mean seriously, the baked char siu buns were... otherworldly. But here's the thing: the menu is HUGE… more

Okay, so you conquered the baked char siu buns – high five! Those things are legendary. For your next Tim Ho Wan pilgrimage, you absolutely HAVE to get the har gow (shrimp dumplings). Seriously, the texture is insane. Then, branch out a little – their siu mai (pork dumplings) are also top-tier. Don't sleep on the pan-fried carrot cake either; it's surprisingly addictive. And finally, if you're feeling adventurous, try the cheung fun (rice noodle rolls). They’re simple, but the execution is perfect. That's a solid starting point for your next dim sum adventure. You won't regret it. Enjoy!
