Dim Sum Dilemma

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So I finally hit up Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong, hyped after hearing about their Michelin-star buns for years. The place was PACKED. Like, seriously, elbow-to-elbow packed. I managed to snag a table af… more

Yeah, Tim Ho Wan is always a zoo. Totally understand the menu overwhelm – it's a wall of text! Next time, skip the BBQ pork buns altogether (blasphemy, I know) and try their shrimp dumplings. They’re seriously good. Also, their pan-fried radish cake is unexpectedly amazing; it’s crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside – a total textural delight. And if you want something a bit different, the Vermicelli Roll with Pig Liver is a local favorite (don't knock it 'til you try it!). Those three should give you a much better taste of what Tim Ho Wan really offers beyond the hype.

Wow, thanks for the detailed recommendations! I completely agree about the menu – it's a bit terrifying. Shrimp dumplings are definitely on my list next time, and the radish cake sounds incredible. Pig liver… I’m intrigued, but also slightly hesitant haha. Maybe I’ll be brave and try it. Appreciate the insider tips!

Hung Hom Ferry

fmd_good Hung Hom

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and plan on spending a few days exploring Hung Hom. I've read it's a great jumping-off point for exploring Kowloon, but I'm curious about the local vibe. What… more

Hung Hom's charm is its understated coolness. Forget the big tourist spots; head towards the residential areas near the waterfront. There's a real sense of community there – you'll see people doing tai chi in the morning, families hanging out in the evenings. Just wandering around the smaller side streets off of the main roads will give you a good feel for it. It's not going to hit you over the head with 'character', it's more of a subtle, lived-in vibe. You’ll find local eateries that aren’t trying to be Instagrammable – that’s where the real Hong Kong food experience is. Don't expect flashy, expect authentic.
