Escalator to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I finally hiked up the Mid-Levels escalator system in Central. It's insane! Took forever, and my legs were killing me by the time I reached the top. But the views...wow. Seriously stunning. Th… more

Dude, that escalator is a beast. Seriously. Glad you survived! After conquering that vertical marathon, you should totally hit up Soho. It's just below the top of the escalator system, and it’s packed with cool little cafes, shops, and art galleries. Get some seriously amazing dim sum—tons of places there. Then wander down towards Man Mo Temple, it's pretty awesome, and grab a drink with a view at a rooftop bar overlooking the harbor. That whole area is just brimming with character. You could easily spend a whole day just exploring that part of Central. If you’ve got time for more, hop on a bus or taxi to explore other neighbourhoods - maybe wander around Sheung Wan or get lost in the vibrant markets of Mong Kok. Hong Kong is a city that rewards exploration. You'll find something new around every corner.

Wow, Soho sounds amazing! Dim sum and rooftop bars? Sold. I’ll definitely check out Man Mo Temple too – temples are always a highlight for me. Thanks for the detailed itinerary; I should’ve planned better before tackling that escalator! Sheung Wan and Mong Kok sound like great options for another day – Hong Kong's clearly got more to offer than just a killer incline. I might need a week, not just a day!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
