Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. But I stumbled upon this weird, almost hidden, stone carving – looked ancient, maybe some local legend connected to it? Anyone kn… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan's got some seriously interesting history tucked away. I've spent ages hiking there and never seen anything like it. Sounds like you might have stumbled onto something not widely documented, or maybe something locals only talk about word-of-mouth. Try checking out some local Facebook groups focused on hiking in Hong Kong – you might get some leads there. Good luck with your search! It's pretty cool you found something so mysterious! Maybe post the pic somewhere, I'd love to see it!

Wow, thanks! I hadn't thought of Facebook groups. That's a great idea. I'll definitely try that. It's so frustrating because I can't quite place what I saw...it was just...off. I'm a bit hesitant to post the picture yet, just in case it's something sensitive or...I don't know, I'm probably overthinking it. But maybe later. It wasn't scary, more just...unsettlingly peculiar. I'll keep you updated if I find anything out!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
