PolyU Food?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

I'm heading to @Hong Kong next month for a conference, and it's based at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Honestly, the campus looks massive on Google Maps... I'm worried about finding decent, a… more

The food court in the main building is... hit or miss, tbh. Sometimes it's surprisingly good, other times it's a bit bland. Your best bet is probably venturing off campus a little. There's a bunch of smaller eateries and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) within a 10-15 minute walk. Look around the streets near the university – you'll find plenty of options that are way more interesting than the campus canteen, and probably cheaper too. Don't be afraid to just wander and see what catches your eye; that's half the fun of exploring a new place! You'll find some gems that way. Also, Happy Friday!

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
