Caritas Bianchi Lodge - Shower Pressure?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I'm staying at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in Hong Kong. The location is great, the staff are lovely, but the shower pressure... oof. It's like trying to wash a rhino with a water pistol. Serious… more

Yeah, I've stayed in a few places in Hong Kong where the water pressure was... underwhelming, to say the least. It's a common complaint, sadly. It might be your room, or it might be the whole building. Could be old pipes. A bucket and jug is definitely a creative solution though! Maybe try contacting reception? They might be able to move you or at least offer some explanation. Good luck with the rhino-washing.

Ha! Underwhelming is one word for it. More like a pathetic dribble. Bucket and jug was definitely Plan B, after the near-drowning attempt with the actual shower. Reception were... less than helpful, basically shrugged and mumbled something about "old building." Guess I'll just stick to the bucket. Thanks for the sympathy though, at least I'm not alone in my Hong Kong low-pressure shower struggles.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
