West Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, right by the harbour. Gorgeous views, amazing breakfast buffet...but there was this weird thing. Every night, around 3 AM, I’d hear this faint, almost melodi… more

Nah, that's not just pipes. I worked night security at the Peninsula Hotel for years – different place, I know – but we got similar reports. Faint humming, usually around the same time. Turns out, it was the old chiller units in the basement. Massive things, humming almost inaudibly when they were running low on refrigerant. They’re old tech, so it's not a consistent sound, more like a low drone that waxes and wanes. Could be something similar at the West Hotel. Old buildings, you know... lots of weird stuff going on behind the walls.

ICC's Highest Restaurant?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I finally made it to the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as everyone calls it, in @HongKong. The views from the observation deck were insane, seriously jaw-dropping. But I was kinda bummed –… more

Yeah, the ICC restaurants are notoriously pricey. You're not alone! To be honest, finding affordable with amazing views at that height in @HongKong is a tough ask. Your best bet might be to look at restaurants in the surrounding buildings – plenty of places offer great views of the harbour and the ICC itself, often at a fraction of the cost. Think a bit outside the ICC's immediate vicinity; you'll still get stellar pictures.

That's a really good point! I hadn't thought about looking at restaurants in nearby buildings. Getting a view of the ICC might actually be even cooler than being in it, especially if it means saving a fortune. Thanks for the tip!
