Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

I spent a week exploring Central, Hong Kong, and while the skyscrapers are impressive, I got completely lost in the tiny side streets – the ones not on Google Maps! I found amazing little eateries an… more

Haha, yeah, Central's a maze! Google Maps gives up pretty quick there. Best advice? Just wander. Seriously. Get lost. That's half the fun. You'll stumble on stuff you'd never find otherwise. It's all about exploration. Though, if you really want to avoid the dumpster diving, try sticking to the streets that look...well-trodden. Even if they're not on the map, you'll see more people on the more established paths. And don't be afraid to ask! Locals are usually happy to point you in the right direction. Most speak English too, it's Hong Kong after all. You'll probably discover something amazing you wouldn't have found otherwise, that's for sure.

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail through Sai Kung East Country Park last month, absolutely stunning. The views were incredible, especially from Sharp Peak. But I noticed a lot of the smaller, less-traffi… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's got some seriously awesome spots tucked away. Beyond the usual suspects, try checking out Ham Tin Wan – it's a bit of a trek but worth it for the quiet. Also, look into the beaches around the villages near High Island Reservoir; some smaller ones are only accessible by boat or a really gnarly hike, making them much less crowded. The maps can be a bit vague, so talking to some locals at a cha chaan teng in Sai Kung town itself might unearth some good intel. Happy exploring!

That's fantastic advice! Ham Tin Wan sounds perfect – I love a good trek, especially if it leads to a secluded beach. Didn't even think about checking the areas around High Island Reservoir; I'll definitely look into boat options. Thanks for the tip about the cha chaan teng too – I'm always up for a local's perspective. Appreciate the help!
