PolyU Campus Food?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the campus food scene is legendary, but I'm a bit of a picky eater... Anyone know where I can find decent vegeta… more

PolyU's campus is sprawling, yeah. Best bet for getting around is just using the footpaths – it’s pretty walkable, even if it looks huge online. There are also plenty of covered walkways, so you'll be fine even if it rains. Vegetarian options... tricky. The student canteen usually has something, but it's mostly carb-heavy. Your best bet might be venturing off campus – there are tons of places near the university in Mong Kok that have more diverse menus. It's a short MTR ride away. You'll find way more veggie options there than you will on campus. Bringing protein bars is a smart move, honestly. Doesn't hurt to have backup.

Finding Ming Garden's Secret?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally tracked down Ming Garden Restaurant, that legendary place everyone talks about in @HongKong. The food was incredible – seriously, the best Peking duck I’ve ever had. But the place itsel… more

Nah, it's probably just really good at its aesthetic. Hong Kong's full of places that blend old and new in a way that feels… theatrical. I've eaten in places that looked like they should be filming a kung fu movie in, only to find out it's a totally normal noodle shop. Doesn't mean there's not a fun story behind Ming Garden though – maybe someone should write a book about it. Could be a bestseller! Think of all the crazy tales those walls could tell.

That's a really cool perspective! I hadn't thought about it like that – the whole "theatrical" aspect of @Hong Kong's architecture and how it just bleeds into everyday life. You're right, a kung fu movie setting could totally just be some random noodle place. A book about Ming Garden's history... now that's an idea. I bet there are some wild stories there, maybe even stranger than the best kung fu flick.
