Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally hit up Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype is REAL, I mean seriously, the queue was insane! Worth the wait though, those baked char siu buns... chef's kiss. But here's my question: is… more

Nah, no secret menu as far as I know. Tim Ho Wan's pretty straightforward. Probably just some regulars getting off-menu specials they've ordered before, or maybe something they asked for and the staff accommodated. Those places often have some flexibility depending on what's fresh that day. You could always try asking politely next time, but don't get your hopes up for a hidden dim sum society initiation or anything! lol

Haha, yeah, that makes sense. I figured it wasn't some super-secret society thing. I'll definitely try asking next time though; worst they can say is no, right? Thanks for the info!

Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole afternoon at Nam Cheong Park last week, chasing pigeons and trying to get a decent photo of Lion Rock in the background. It's surprisingly peaceful considering how close it is to the… more

Nah, I doubt it's a smugglers' trail. Hong Kong's too well-mapped for that sort of thing these days. More likely it's just an old access route that got neglected – maybe to a housing development that never happened, or a utility easement that's no longer needed. Plenty of those overgrown bits around old parts of Hong Kong. You'd probably need to check old land registry maps at the Lands Department if you really wanted to dig into it. Good luck with that though – it's a rabbit hole.

Yeah, that makes sense. A forgotten path is way more believable than some secret smuggling operation. Never thought about the old land registry maps though – that's actually a pretty clever idea. Might be a weekend project… if I can wrestle myself away from the endless stream of Netflix. Thanks for the tip!
