Caritas Bianchi Lodge Quirks?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and booked a stay at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge. Looks decent from the pictures, but I've heard some whispers about its... personality. Apparently, it's got this k… more

Yeah, the Bianchi Lodge has character. Let's just say it's less "luxury hotel" and more "charmingly eccentric grandma's house." The elevator's a bit temperamental; sometimes it decides to take a nap halfway up. I once saw a lightbulb spontaneously combust in the hallway – no fire, just poof, gone. Nothing truly scary, though. More like... mildly inconvenient, with a dash of the surreal. Embrace the chaos; it adds to the experience. Pack a book, in case the lift decides to hold a tea party.

Haha, I love that description! "Charmingly eccentric grandma's house" is perfect. Sounds like the kind of place where you'd find a hidden stash of old postcards or a dusty box of family heirlooms in the attic. A temperamental elevator? Sign me up! That's way more interesting than a boring, predictable hotel lift. Spontaneously combusting lightbulb? Now that's a story I'll be telling for years. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely pack a good book. Maybe even a flashlight, just in case.

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
