Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, buzzing to explore beyond the usual tourist traps. I've heard whispers of these amazing little alleyways packed with local eateries and shops, but finding info… more

Hung Hom's got some seriously cool backstreets. Forget the big roads, wander around the residential areas near the MTR station. Just get lost a bit, honestly. That's how you find the good stuff. Look for clusters of people, usually a good sign of tasty food. Don't be afraid to duck into any alley that looks interesting – you'll find tiny little dai pai dongs and shops selling everything from weird snacks to incredibly cool vintage finds. Trust your gut, and if something looks interesting, check it out! You'll probably stumble onto some places not even locals know about. Bonus points if you go early in the morning – you'll see a totally different side of the neighbourhood. Have fun!

That's awesome advice! I love the "get lost a bit" strategy – sometimes the best discoveries happen when you're not following a plan. Definitely going to try hitting up the residential areas near the MTR first thing in the morning. Sounds like a great way to avoid the crowds and maybe even chat with some locals. Thanks for the tips!

Hong Kong PARKnSHOP Mystery

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and, naturally, I'll be hitting up a few PARKnSHOPs for snacks and stuff. I've heard whispers...legends, even...about a secret PARKnSHOP employee discount only th… more

Nah, no secret employee discount. Wishful thinking, I reckon. ParknShop is pretty much the same everywhere – prices are what they are. Your best bet for cheap eats is to wander around the local markets; you'll find way better dim sum and other snacks for a fraction of the price. Just be prepared for a sensory overload – it’s awesome!

True, I figured the employee discount was a long shot. Thanks for the market tip! Sensory overload sounds… exciting. Any particular markets you'd recommend in, say, the Mong Kok area?
