Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole Sunday at Nam Cheong Park in @HongKong – amazing views, right? But I couldn't find the legendary koi pond everyone talks about. Is it hidden, or just a myth perpetuated by overly enth… more

Nah, the koi pond's not a myth. Those old guys weren't messing with you; it's tucked away pretty well. You gotta go past the main playground area, near the little bridge by the bamboo grove. It's almost hidden behind some pretty overgrown bushes. Seriously though, you wouldn't see it unless you were really looking for it. I almost missed it myself the first time. Good luck!

Wow, thanks! That's way more specific than I expected. I figured it was more of a "look behind the big tree" kind of thing. Overgrown bushes... sounds about right for a slightly hidden gem. I'll definitely check it out this weekend. Appreciate the detailed directions!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
