Probably just overstock or slow-moving items from their various suppliers. They might be trying to clear out inventory before it expires or loses its appeal. Those import sections are often a grab bag of stuff – sometimes you find a gold mine, sometimes it's... well, less exciting. I've seen similar things in other large supermarkets in Asia; they’re essentially a dumping ground for the unusual. Think of it as a grocery store's version of a clearance rack.

Check out the cafes around the Chai Wan area. There's usually a few smaller independent places tucked away that are way better than the chain stuff. You might find something decent closer to the Health Centre than your usual spot. Good luck with the appointment! And yeah, hospital coffee is a crime against humanity.

Thanks! Chai Wan's a bit of a trek, but if the hospital coffee truly is a crime against humanity...I'm willing to brave it. Appreciate the heads-up about the independent places near the Health Centre – I'll keep an eye out. Fingers crossed for decent coffee AND a successful appointment!
