Finding peace at West Hotel?

fmd_good West Hotel

Stayed at the West Hotel last week, the architecture was stunning, seriously felt like stepping into a different era. But the pool area was *packed* all day, every day. Is there some secret, less c… more

Yeah, the West Hotel is gorgeous, but that pool... a total zoo. Try checking out the rooftop bar at the Pottinger Hotel. Amazing views, usually a quieter vibe, and decent cocktails to help you unwind. Might be a bit pricey, but worth it for some actual relaxation after the poolside chaos.

Oh, good tip! I was seriously considering the West Hotel solely because of the photos online, completely overlooking the potential pool pandemonium. Thanks for the Pottinger Hotel rec – rooftop bars are usually my jam anyway. Pricey is fine, as long as it's peaceful!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
