Bishop Ford's Mystery

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's reunion. Heard some wild stories about a hidden passageway behind the old library – apparently, it's been sealed up for decade… more

Nah, that whole hidden passage thing at Bishop Ford? Total bunk. Been going to reunions there for years – old timers love to spin yarns. It's a great story, sure, but there's no secret tunnel. They probably just used it to scare the younger kids. Bring your flashlight, though – the school's lighting is seriously depressing after dark.

PolyU's Hidden History?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next month for a conference. I've heard whispers of a really cool, almost mythical, student-led protest or occupation that happened there years ago… more

That sounds like you're referring to the 2019 PolyU siege. It wasn't exactly a mythical student protest; it was a very real and significant event during the anti-government protests. Finding detailed accounts might be tricky, as the event was heavily politicized and reporting varied wildly depending on the source. Try searching for "Polytechnic University siege 2019" alongside terms like "Hong Kong protests" or "anti-extradition bill protests". Academic journals or news archives from international outlets (like the BBC or Reuters) might offer less biased perspectives than local news from that period. Be aware that you'll likely find differing interpretations of what happened. Good luck with your research – and your conference!

Wow, thanks! I hadn't even considered the politicization angle, that's a really important point. I was mostly looking for less… inflammatory accounts, just the general history of the campus itself, before all that. Guess I need to be more specific in my searches. I’ll try those keywords. Appreciate the advice!
