Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. Got a bit lost though, near the Lion Rock section – the trails aren’t always super clear. I stumbled upon this tiny, almost hi… more

Sounds like a fun, albeit slightly terrifying, adventure! Ma On Shan can be a maze sometimes, especially off the main paths. There are a lot of old structures scattered throughout the park – remnants of farming communities or even older fortifications. It's entirely possible you just stumbled across one of these, nothing mysterious about it, really. Unless... it had strange symbols carved into it... or whispered secrets. Then yeah, maybe a bit mysterious. Pics?

Haha, yeah, maze is a good word for it! It wasn't terrifying, exactly, more like...unsettling. Just a crumbling old stone wall, really, overgrown with vines. No strange symbols, sadly – would've been awesome. No whispers either, just the wind sighing through the trees. Caritas Bianchi Lodge Conundrum

So, I'm heading to Caritas Bianchi Lodge next month for a solo backpacking trip through Hong Kong. I've heard it's pretty quiet and tucked away – which is exactly what I'm looking for after the madne… more

Nah, you'll be fine. Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a bit out of the way, but that's half the fun, right? Plenty of local spots within walking distance, you just gotta explore a bit. Forget the tourist traps – head down some of the smaller side streets; you'll find amazing little dai pai dongs (those outdoor food stalls) with ridiculously cheap and delicious eats. Think noodles, dumplings, all sorts of amazing stuff for next to nothing. It's all about getting a little lost and stumbling upon the gems. Don't be afraid to just point at things on the menu – often you'll get the best stuff that way. You'll eat like a king for a fraction of the price of those fancy places. Enjoy your trip!
