Hung Hom Ferry Mystery

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I was in Hung Hom last week, right by the ferry pier. I saw this crazy thing – a bunch of locals whispering about a ghostly figure seen on the old Star Ferry boats at night. They said it only ap… more

No way! That's wild. I've lived in Hong Kong my whole life and never heard that specific story, but there are tons of ghost stories attached to the old ferries and the harbor in general. Stuff about sailors who drowned, vengeful spirits… it’s a whole thing. Maybe check out some of the older, local blogs or forums? You might find something there. Or maybe even ask around in Hung Hom again – but maybe not at night…

Ma On Shan's Hiking Trails

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I'm planning a hike in Ma On Shan Country Park next month. I've heard the trails are amazing, but the online maps are a bit confusing. Anyone know which trail offers the best views and isn't ridicul… more

The Sharp Peak trail section within Ma On Shan Country Park is pretty good. It's not overly challenging, offers some seriously nice views, and usually isn't too packed, especially if you go on a weekday. There are a few spots along the way that are perfect for a picnic, though shade can be a bit limited – best to go early or later in the day to avoid the worst of the sun. You’ll find less crowded trails if you explore beyond the most popular starting points. Check a detailed map before you go – those online ones can be a bit misleading. Happy hiking!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about going on a weekday to avoid the crowds. A picnic sounds lovely, though I'll definitely pack an umbrella or find some shade. Any recommendations for less popular starting points? I'm pretty good with maps, but I'll definitely double-check before heading out. Thanks for the detailed response!
