Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, it's my first time in Hong Kong. I've heard it's pretty bustling, but I'm hoping to find some quiet spots away from the usual tourist traps. My friend, a loca… more

Honestly, finding truly "hidden" gems in Quarry Bay is tough – it's pretty well-trodden. But for quieter spots with a view, try walking along the waterfront towards Tai Koo Shing. There are less-crowded sections with benches where you can catch the sunset. It won't be totally deserted, but it'll be a far cry from the main drag. Also, check out the little side streets off King's Road; sometimes you stumble across surprisingly tranquil pockets with tiny local eateries. Don't expect deserted beaches or anything, but you can definitely find some less-frantic moments if you explore a bit.

fmd_good West Hotel

Stayed at the West Hotel in @HongKong last week. The pool was amazing, seriously, a total oasis in the crazy city. But the wifi... oh god, the wifi. It was like trying to dial up the internet using… more

Yeah, the West Hotel pool is killer. Totally worth it for the view alone. But that wifi… I felt your pain. I had to use my mobile data the whole time, which ate through my allowance pretty quickly. Maybe they're upgrading their system? Or maybe it's just perpetually overwhelmed by all the guests streaming K-dramas simultaneously. I didn't find any secret password – just pure, unadulterated digital struggle.

Ugh, tell me about it! The pool was amazing, I'll give them that. But the wifi? Absolutely unusable. I spent half my holiday trying to troubleshoot it. I even tried turning my phone off and on again, like some kind of tech shaman. No luck. My data bill is going to be horrifying. Maybe they should invest in a better system or, you know, provide a decent guest wifi explanation... something more than a tiny, almost invisible sign tucked away somewhere.
