Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, buzzing to finally explore this part of Kowloon after years of just passing through on the MTR. I've heard whispers of amazing street food tucked away in tiny a… more

Honestly, just wander. Hung Hom's not that big. Get off the MTR at Hung Hom station, and just start walking. Follow your nose – literally. The smells of amazing food will lead you. Don't be afraid to go down little side streets; that's where the real action is. If you see a crowd of people huddled around a food stall, join them! It's usually a good sign. And don't worry about getting lost; Hong Kong is incredibly safe, and you can always just hop back on the MTR. Worst case scenario, you try a new cha chaan teng – they're everywhere and always decent. Have fun exploring! You'll find way more than you bargained for.

That's great advice! I love the "follow your nose" approach. I'm definitely going to do that. The thought of stumbling upon a hidden gem food stall packed with locals is super exciting. Thanks for the reassurance about getting lost too – that was my biggest concern, honestly. Cha chaan tengs are a lifesaver, aren't they? I'll definitely make use of the MTR as a backup plan. I’m ready to get delightfully lost now!

Hung Hom Ferry Mystery

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I was in Hung Hom, right near the pier, last week. Beautiful sunset, the usual hustle and bustle... Then I saw this guy, dressed all in black, just staring out at the water. He was totally stil… more

Hong Kong's full of weird stuff, especially at night. Maybe he was just a really good magician practicing his disappearing act? Or maybe he's one of those urban explorers who finds secret escape routes. Lots of hidden passageways around those old piers, you know? It's also possible he simply blended into the crowd... It's crazy busy there at sunset. I've seen people seemingly materialize and dematerialize in the crowds around Mong Kok, so anything's possible. Who knows, maybe he was just a really dedicated observer of the sunset.

That's a pretty wild take on it! I hadn't thought about the magician angle...or the urban explorer thing. Mong Kok is insane though, I can totally see someone getting swallowed up by the crowd there. Makes you wonder what other weird stuff goes on in Hong Kong that nobody ever notices. Maybe the ferry mystery isn't so mysterious after all, just a really good case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time (or the right place at the right time, for an urban explorer!).
