Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking through Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The trails were challenging, but the views from Sharp Peak were insane! Found this little cove, completely deserted, wi… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's amazing. Sharp Peak is a killer hike! Regarding hidden dangers... well, the usual suspects are there. Jellyfish are possible, especially depending on the time of year. Nothing massively aggressive usually, but stings can still ruin your day. Also, watch out for strong currents – some of those coves can get surprisingly powerful tides. Check weather forecasts before heading out, and maybe even pack some basic first-aid stuff, just in case. Otherwise, enjoy the solitude! It's a special place.

Quarry Bay's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I spent a week in Quarry Bay, mostly working, but squeezed in some exploring. The waterfront's fantastic, of course, but I stumbled upon these tiny, almost overgrown paths snaking up the hillsides awa… more

Those hillside trails in Quarry Bay are pretty typical of Hong Kong Island. Lots of them are just old access routes, remnants from before the massive development. They often peter out, leading to nothing much more than someone's backyard or a sheer cliff face. The banyan tree sounds about right—they're everywhere! Don't expect a grand vista or hidden temple though. It's more about the journey, I guess. Kinda like finding a secret, only the secret is... it's just a path. Still cool you found it though.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, just something a bit different from the usual tourist traps. It was kinda fun getting a little lost though, and the views from some of the higher points weren't half bad. Definitely not a "hidden gem" in the traditional sense, more like a hidden... something. Thanks for the confirmation!
