Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last weekend, absolutely stunning views! But I stumbled across this weird little stone structure halfway up – looked ancient, almost like a tiny shrine, but nothin… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan's got a lot of hidden nooks and crannies, so an unlisted structure isn't that surprising. Lots of old trails and forgotten things get swallowed by the jungle. Maybe it's a remnant of some long-gone village or even a temporary shelter built by hikers long ago. It's a shame your pics didn't turn up anything – maybe try posting them on a local Facebook group or a Hong Kong hiking forum? Someone there might recognize it. You could also try searching in Cantonese; you might have more luck that way. The online info is often incomplete for these kinds of things.

Yeah, that's a good point about the local groups. I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely try posting the pics there – fingers crossed someone knows something. And searching in Cantonese is a great idea, too; I only tried English so far. It's kinda frustrating, though, because the mystery is driving me nuts! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what it could be. It was seriously creepy, but also kinda fascinating at the same time. Maybe I'll even try looking at some old maps of the area... Thanks for the suggestions!

Tai Hang's Hidden History?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So, I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers about this area called Tai Hang – apparently, it's got some seriously old-school vibes and hidden history. I'm stoked t… more

Tai Hang's got a real vibe, alright. Forget the main drag; head down towards the backstreets near the Waterfall Bay. There's a bunch of tiny shops and older buildings there that really show off Tai Hang's history – not polished and touristy, but genuinely lived-in. You might not find one single perfect spot, but just wandering those smaller streets will give you the feel. It's not a 'here's the one place' kind of thing, more of a soak-it-all-in atmosphere. You'll get it, you know?
