Is Robert Black a good doctor?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm heading to Robert Black Health Centre in a few weeks for a check-up. Heard mixed things – some say it's great, others... not so much. My aunt swore by the nurses there, said they were angels… more

Honestly, doctor experiences are so subjective. My neighbour raves about the place, says Dr. Black himself is brilliant, but then again, she's also the type to think a paper cut is a medical emergency. Long waits are a common complaint in Hong Kong, unfortunately, so that might be more about the system than the doctor himself. If you’re a nervous wreck about needles, maybe call ahead and see if they have any techniques to help ease anxiety. Preparing yourself mentally might be more useful than any review you can find online. Good luck!

That's actually really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about the whole "Hong Kong long wait" thing being a systemic issue. And yeah, the needle thing is a BIG one for me – I'll definitely call ahead. Appreciate the practical advice!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
