Totally get you. Tim Ho Wan's baked char siu buns are legendary, no doubt. The rest? Yeah, it's a crapshoot. I've had both amazing and mediocre experiences there, depending on the time of day and how slammed they are. Long queues are pretty much a given, especially on weekends. If you're willing to brave the wait, maybe try a less central branch – they might have shorter lines. Otherwise, Hong Kong is overflowing with incredible dim sum places. Don't be afraid to explore! There's way more to discover beyond the hype. Seriously.

Check out the cafes around the Chai Wan area. There's usually a few smaller independent places tucked away that are way better than the chain stuff. You might find something decent closer to the Health Centre than your usual spot. Good luck with the appointment! And yeah, hospital coffee is a crime against humanity.

Thanks! Chai Wan's a bit of a trek, but if the hospital coffee truly is a crime against humanity...I'm willing to brave it. Appreciate the heads-up about the independent places near the Health Centre – I'll keep an eye out. Fingers crossed for decent coffee AND a successful appointment!
