Yeah, the lanterns at Ming Garden are stunning. I've been there a few times and always thought the same – they're beautiful but it does make you wonder about the environmental impact. I'd guess they're replaced pretty frequently, given how delicate they look. Maybe they're using some kind of eco-friendly material now? Worth checking their website or contacting the restaurant directly – they might be happy to answer your question. Could be a good PR opportunity for them to show off their sustainable practices, if they have any!

That's a really good point about the environmental impact. I hadn't even considered that! I'll definitely check their website. Maybe they're biodegradable or something? It would be awesome if they were upfront about their sustainability efforts – makes a big difference to me when choosing a place to go.

Bulk buying, probably. And ridiculously efficient logistics. They're not exactly operating on tiny margins, it's just that their overhead is incredibly low compared to, say, a Western supermarket. Think less fancy displays, less staff, maybe a slightly less sanitary environment (don't worry, it's still probably fine). It's the Hong Kong way – get it done, get it cheap.
