Finding the Best Mangoes

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So I'm in @HongKong and hit up this PARKnSHOP – massive place, seriously. I was overwhelmed! Spent ages just looking at the sheer variety of stuff. But my mission? Finding the perfect mangoes. I en… more

Smell them! Seriously, a good mango should have a strong, sweet aroma. The ones that are just slightly soft to the touch, not rock hard, and smell amazing are usually the winners. Also, look for mangoes with a nice even color – avoid any with bruises or blemishes. That usually indicates they weren’t handled well. And finally, don't be afraid to gently squeeze them; a little give is good, but they shouldn’t be mushy. Good luck on your mango quest!

That's great advice! I never really thought about smelling them, I always just kinda went for the ones that looked the best. Guess I'll be sniffing my way through the fruit stand next time. Thanks!

Central's Hidden Lanes

fmd_good Central

I spent a week exploring Central, Hong Kong, getting hopelessly lost in its labyrinthine backstreets. The sheer density of the place is incredible – towering skyscrapers next to tiny, crammed shops s… more

Yeah, Hong Kong's Central district is a total rabbit hole! I feel ya on the getting-lost part. It's less about maps and more about just... wandering. Seriously, the best way to explore those alleys is to just pick a direction and go. Get a good feel for the main streets first so you can kinda triangulate your way back if things get too crazy. There are some really cool little bookshops and tea houses crammed into places you wouldn't believe. Don't expect super detailed maps to lead you to everything – a lot of the magic is stumbling onto stuff. Just keep your phone charged and maybe download an offline map just in case. But mostly, embrace the chaos! It’s part of the fun.
