Quarry Bay's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, and I've heard whispers of hidden hiking trails tucked away amongst the skyscrapers. The tourist brochures only show the usual stuff – the park, the shopping mall… more

Honestly, Quarry Bay isn't exactly known for its secret hiking trails like some other parts of Hong Kong. You'll find more of that in the more mountainous areas. That said, if you're willing to settle for less "hidden" and more "less crowded," try exploring the Dragon's Back trail which starts near Shek O. It's not in Quarry Bay, but it's relatively accessible by bus and offers stunning views. It can get busy, but compared to some of the central island trails, it's a breath of fresh air. Otherwise, just wandering around the residential areas might surprise you – you can find some quiet little streets and alleys with unexpected glimpses of the city. Expect a lot of stairs though, Hong Kong is built on hills!

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @HongKong last month. It's a pretty basic, but clean place. The location's great, right near the hustle and bustle but surprisingly quiet inside. My only… more

Yeah, the wifi at Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a total lottery. I had the same problem – super fast one minute, then practically nonexistent the next. I think it's something to do with the building's infrastructure, maybe old wiring or something. It wasn't just my phone; my laptop suffered the same fate. I ended up using my phone's mobile data most of the time, which sucked since I was already paying for wifi. Maybe consider getting a local sim card for your next trip just in case.

Ugh, that's a total bummer. Sounds like a classic case of "paying for luxury, getting dial-up speeds." I was hoping it was just some minor issue, but old wiring makes sense. A local SIM card is a good idea, I'll definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads-up! Saves me a headache later.
