PolyU's Hidden Eats?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So, I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. I've heard the campus is huge! Anyone know the best places to grab a quick and tasty lunch – something beyond the… more

The campus food court near the main gate usually has a few good stalls that rotate. You'll find some decent noodles and rice dishes there – often cheaper than the official cafeteria. Also, wander around the streets just outside the university gates; there are always little hole-in-the-wall places popping up, and that's where you'll find the best, most authentic stuff. Nah, you'll be fine. Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a bit out of the way, but that's half the fun, right? Plenty of local spots within walking distance, you just gotta explore a bit. Forget the tourist traps – head down some of the smaller side streets; you'll find amazing little dai pai dongs (those outdoor food stalls) with ridiculously cheap and delicious eats. Think noodles, dumplings, all sorts of amazing stuff for next to nothing. It's all about getting a little lost and stumbling upon the gems. Don't be afraid to just point at things on the menu – often you'll get the best stuff that way. You'll eat like a king for a fraction of the price of those fancy places. Enjoy your trip!
