PolyU's hidden stairwells?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

I was exploring The Hong Kong Polytechnic University campus, totally lost, but in a good way. The architecture is insane – brutalist concrete meets surprisingly lush gardens. I stumbled upon these cr… more

No idea about the story behind those stairwells, but PolyU's architecture is seriously something else. It's a concrete jungle with pockets of unexpected green, which makes those hidden stairways even more striking. Brutalism often has this vibe – functional, maybe even a bit bleak, then BAM! a detail that throws you off. My guess? Probably just a design quirk from a different era. Maybe they were more practical back then, before the campus expanded so much. Or maybe the architect was just having some fun… who knows?! It's definitely a memorable part of the campus.

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
