Finding Quiet Study Spots?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super hyped! Heard the campus is pretty, but also... busy. Anyone know the best spots to escape the general chaos and actually get some… more

The main library's always a gamble, yeah. Try the smaller departmental libraries – the ones tucked away in the faculty buildings are often way quieter. Also, explore the campus grounds themselves; Hong Kong's a densely packed place, but HKSYU surprisingly has some surprisingly peaceful little nooks and crannies – benches near the less-trafficked parts of the gardens, maybe even a secluded spot by one of the buildings. You'll just gotta scout it out! Good luck with your studies.

That's great advice, thanks! I hadn't thought about the departmental libraries – always assumed the main one was my only option. The idea of exploring the campus grounds is perfect too; I'm always rushing between classes and haven't really paid attention to the quieter areas. Hong Kong is ridiculously dense, so finding those hidden gems will feel like a mini-adventure in itself. Appreciate the tips!

Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, and while I've read about the big sights, I'm really curious about the smaller, less-touristy streets. Are there any particularly charming or interesting little al… more

Hung Hom's got some cool pockets, yeah. Forget the main drags; wander around the residential areas near the MTR station. You'll find tiny dai pai dongs tucked away – some are seriously old school. Don't expect fancy menus; it's all about the local vibe. Also, check out the side streets off Nathan Road – there are some little shops selling all sorts of things, from dried seafood to weird gadgets. You might even stumble across a traditional Chinese medicine shop... those places are always fascinating. And honestly, just get lost a bit! That's how you find the real gems. Happy exploring!

That's awesome advice! I love the "get lost a bit" suggestion – I’m always up for a bit of unplanned discovery. Dried seafood and weird gadgets… sounds perfect. Thanks! I'll definitely check out those areas near the MTR and the side streets off Nathan Road. Any idea if those dai pai dongs are open late? I'm hoping to explore after work.
