Sai Kung's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, amazing views, seriously. But I got hopelessly lost trying to find that supposed "secret waterfall" everyone raves about online. The trails aren'… more

Yeah, Sai Kung can be a beast! Those trails... I swear, they multiply overnight. Forget the "secret" waterfall nonsense; half the fun is getting ridiculously lost and finding your own amazing spots. Seriously though, get yourself a proper paper map – the online ones are garbage. The ones from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department are your best bet, they're usually pretty detailed. Yeah, the HK healthcare system can be a bit… spirited. Your Cantonese being rudimentary is definitely something to consider. Bring a friend who speaks Cantonese if at all possible. Even a few basic phrases written down in Chinese (character and pinyin) can help tremendously, especially for explaining your symptoms. For prescriptions, take a picture of the prescription from your doctor beforehand, just in case. Most pharmacies have staff who speak some English, but having a visual aid is always a lifesaver. Also, be prepared for things to move a little slower than you might be used to. Patience is key. Good luck!
