That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about talking to the locals – makes total sense. I figured there'd be some kind of written record somewhere, but oral history totally explains why it's so mysterious. I’ll definitely try that approach. Those reservoir views sound amazing though, I'm looking forward to seeing them myself! Will report back if I unearth any particularly juicy bits of folklore… or if I just get completely lost.
