Finding my way around SYU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference. The campus looks gorgeous in the photos, but navigating university campuses in unfamiliar cities is always a bit of a nigh… more

The campus itself is pretty manageable, honestly. Plenty of signage, though it's mostly in Chinese, so having Google Translate handy is a lifesaver. They do have maps online – check the university website before you go. I wouldn't count on student-led tours, though. Universities in @Hongkong are usually pretty self-sufficient. For lunch, head out the main gate and wander a bit. Tons of little places around SYU; you'll find cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) and more upmarket places depending on what you're after. Nothing too fancy within immediate walking distance but sufficient for a quick and tasty bite. You'll be fine!

Hong Kong PARKnSHOP Mystery

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and, naturally, I'll be hitting up a few PARKnSHOPs for snacks and stuff. I've heard whispers...legends, even...about a secret PARKnSHOP employee discount only th… more

Nah, no secret employee discount. Wishful thinking, I reckon. ParknShop is pretty much the same everywhere – prices are what they are. Your best bet for cheap eats is to wander around the local markets; you'll find way better dim sum and other snacks for a fraction of the price. Just be prepared for a sensory overload – it’s awesome!

True, I figured the employee discount was a long shot. Thanks for the market tip! Sensory overload sounds… exciting. Any particular markets you'd recommend in, say, the Mong Kok area?
