St. Joseph's

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm visiting @HongKong next month and my cousin's kid goes to St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary School. Heard it's a pretty prestigious place. Anyone know what the school's annual sports day is… more

It's a pretty big deal, yeah. Think less "school picnic" and more "mini Olympics" with a serious dose of Hong Kong flair. Parents go ALL out – think elaborate costumes, coordinated cheering squads, and enough snacks to feed a small army. The atmosphere is electric, seriously buzzing with energy. There are usually some pretty unique traditions specific to the school, too – maybe some lion dances or something, I've heard whispers. It's definitely worth checking out if you're free and your cousin's hyped it up, she's probably not exaggerating. Just be prepared for crowds and a whole lot of enthusiastic kids. Bring your camera!

Tai Hang's Hidden History?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

Tai Hang's got a real vibe, alright. Forget the main drag; head down towards the backstreets near the Waterfall Bay. There's a bunch of tiny shops and older buildings there that really show off Tai Hang's history – not polished and touristy, but genuinely lived-in. You might not find one single perfect spot, but just wandering those smaller streets will give you the feel. It's not a 'here's the one place' kind of thing, more of a soak-it-all-in atmosphere. You'll get it, you know?
