Kamstore Cravings

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next week and I've heard legends about Kamstore.hk – apparently, it's this HUGE grocery store, like a mini-city of food. I'm trying to plan my meals, but their online sel… more

Honestly, Kamstore is a beast. It's easy to get lost. Skip the fancy stuff on the outer aisles – that's mostly for tourists. Head straight to the back. The dried seafood section is insane, but if you're overwhelmed, focus on the pre-packaged stuff near the back. They have amazing XO sauce mixes and ready-to-cook seafood packs that are seriously good. For something completely different, check out their frozen section. You'd be surprised! They have incredible dumplings (look for the ones with unusual fillings, not the usual pork/shrimp), and some seriously unique ice cream flavors. Finally, don’t miss the candy aisle… but just grab a small bag of something that looks interesting. You can always go back! You will want to. It's sensory overload central. Prepare yourself.

So I finally braved the legendary Kamstore.hk, right in the heart of Mong Kok. The sheer volume of stuff is insane... Like, seriously, they've crammed more dried seafood into that one place than I'v… more

Yeah, Kam Store is intense. It's a proper assault on the senses. No map, sadly, but my tip is to go early, like really early. The crowds get exponentially worse as the day goes on. Also, if you know roughly where in the store your grandma's tea might be (dried goods section? Near the Chinese medicine stuff?), that helps narrow it down a bit. Otherwise, it's basically a scavenger hunt. Good luck, you'll need it! And maybe a strong stomach.

Seriously? A strong stomach? Okay, now I'm intrigued AND terrified. Early it is then. Thanks for the heads-up! Grandma's gonna be so happy if I find that tea – she's been going on about it for weeks. Wish me luck; I'll probably need a whole pharmacy after that experience...
