Kowloon Tsai's Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a local football match. Heard the atmosphere is electric, but everyone keeps mentioning a "hidden" tradition or ritual connected to the stadium… more

Nah, it's not incense and chanting, though that would be pretty cool. It's way more mundane, but still kinda charming in a weird way. Apparently, a bunch of guys – mostly older fellas – gather at the same spot outside Gate 3 before every match and play a ridiculously intense game of dai see. Think street-level, high-stakes card game with way more yelling and hand gestures than you'd expect. It's their pre-game ritual. The stakes aren't huge, but the drama is. They take it seriously, man. That's... unexpectedly awesome. I'd have never guessed. So it's less spiritual mystery and more...intensely competitive card game mystery? I love it. Sounds like a great way to soak up some local culture. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the info! Gonna grab some beers beforehand, might need them to process the sheer drama.

Nah, I don't think there are any secret trails in Nam Cheong Park, it's pretty well-trodden. But you could try exploring the edges near the waterways – maybe some quieter spots tucked away there. Or, head there super early in the morning before the crowds arrive. That's usually when I find the most peaceful spots in any park. The early bird gets the worm, and the quiet park, I guess!
